Team Japan Triumphs on the World Pastry Stage — A Journey of Dedication and Victory

Japan’s pastry team claimed back-to-back world titles at the 2025 Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie, an elegant yet fiercely competitive event held in Lyon. Their steady dedication and quiet strength came to life before the eyes of a captivated global audience.

Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie 2025:Overview

From January 24 (Friday) to January 25 (Saturday), 2025, in Lyon, France, the Japanese national team achieved a stunning victory at the world's most prestigious pastry competition, the "Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie 2025." Triumphing over the all-time host nation, France, desperate to reclaim the gold medal, Japan secured their second consecutive world championship title.

This 19th edition of the competition was centered around the theme of "National Heritage." Competitors from 18 countries participated in the grueling nine-hour contest, showcasing their skills in sugar artistry, chocolate sculpture, and ice carving, alongside three key tasting challenges: frozen desserts, restaurant-style plated desserts, and “chocolate tasting show,” presented in an interactive, food truck-style format. The Japanese team was highly praised for their exceptional flavor mastery, strong artistic representation of Japanese culture and traditions, and engaging artistic chocolate showpiece performance that captivated the audience. Their seamless teamwork ultimately earned them the well-earned gold medal.

Nagase Viita's Support for Team Japan

As one of the sponsoring companies, Nagase Viita Co., Ltd. has been actively supporting the Japanese team since its formation in March 2023. During the Asia continental qualifiers held in Singapore, NAGASE Group provided their kitchen lab as a training facility for the athletes, offering substantial logistical support. At the Lyon venue, Team TREHA® also participated in the SIRHA Lyon (International Food Service, Hospitality and Food Trade Exhibition), balancing booth operations while cheering for the team. The main competition venue was packed with enthusiastic spectators, and the awards ceremony saw such a large turnout that many could not enter, reaffirming the event's immense popularity.

The Spirit of Perseverance That Led to Victory

The 2025 Japanese team was composed of dedicated professionals, including Ryuu Miyazaki, who had been competing in qualifiers for 16 years in pursuit of a place on the national team. Many team members had persistently challenged themselves through numerous qualifying rounds, demonstrating unwavering commitment. Team leader Daisuke Tomita described the group as "a team known for its humble yet relentless effort." What moved us most was the team's simple yet powerful belief in “the spirit of never giving up.” We believe this deep dedication was the key to their consecutive world titles.

Upon their triumphant return to Japan, a grand celebration was held, bringing together the victorious team, past champions, renowned chefs, and supporting sponsors. The room was filled with heartfelt congratulations, shared joy, and deep admiration for their remarkable achievement. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and joy, celebrating this incredible achievement. Nagase Viita takes great pride in having played a part in supporting such an outstanding team.
